Amazing food and beer pairings to break the mould
Join Beer Diva and beer educator Kirily Waldhorn at Canterbury League Club on Wednesday 28th August from 7pm for the ultimate foodie adventure – a five-course beergustation to tickle the tastebuds and challenge the stereotypical concept of beer.
Held at the Club’s Lavico Italian Ristorante, expect to be entertained by ‘Australia’s First Lady of Beer’ Waldhorn as she takes you through all things craft beer and how to match a great brew to your meal, both sweet and savoury.
A relatively new word to the dining vocabulary of Sydneysiders, beergustations are all about matching amazing food with specially chosen craft beer to take diners on a culinary journey.
“This degustation menu will push people out of their comfort zone and show that beer can be matched with more than just a steak,” said Canterbury Executive Chef, Stephanie Azar.
The ingredients list of the five-course menu may raise some eyebrows on the night, but fortune favours the bold; just imagine the succulence of confit duck, the rich and earthy flavour of goat’s cheese, a drizzle of bourbon barbeque glaze here and a dash of chilli there. All courses are matched with specially chosen beer by Waldhorn.
“It gives the chefs a chance to showcase our talents as well as giving our patrons an experience to remember. It is also a bit of fun and something different from the usual mid-week dinner,” said Azar.
“There will be great food, craft beer and great company with a wealth of knowledge to take home.”
