Canterbury League Club recently hosted their Annual Staff Awards in the Paragon Show room.

Tribute was paid to staff for excellent service and volunteering in the community over the years.

One notable employee that was recognised for his service, was Belmore local George Cocokios who was recognized for 40 years employment at Canterbury.

George started work when just a teenager in 1978 and his first tasks included picking up glasses and cleaning up ash trays.

In 1986, George was made Supervisor and 4 years later was appointed Assistant Operations Manager. George has worked his way up to become the Club’s Customer Service Manager.

The hard work and determination that George has shown for Canterbury is also a reflection of the passion that he shares at the Club.

Other staff to be recognized on the night included Lina Bou-Chebl and Gary McAnulty for 25 years services and Ricardo Chessa and George Helou for 20 years’ service.

The service awards also recognise those staff that have exceptionally represented Canterbury’s values during the year with Mary White, Azzam Eleter, Nathan Cantore and Jaqueline Pham presented the R.A.V.E. Champion Awards for 2018.

Toula Papoulidis was awarded volunteer of the year for her work with the Community. Part of Toula’s prize included a donation of $500 to a charity of her choosing, the Fred Hollow’s Foundation.

“This year’s event was remarkable and the level of excellence that was honored goes to show that Canterbury League Club is represented by quality people who go above and beyond to create exceptional customer experiences for our Members and guests,” said George Coorey, Chairman of Canterbury League Club.
