Canterbury is turning pink to support NBCF

Canterbury staff will be throwing their support behind National Breast Cancer Foundation’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month by running activities in October to raise funds for breast cancer research and prevention.

From 9-15 October, Bakehouse Café’s front dessert display cabinet will be awash with delicious pink sweets and treats such as pink cupcakes, pink donuts, pink raspberry mousse and pink cakes. For every purchase of a pink dessert during this week, Canterbury will donate $1 to NBCF.

On Friday 15 October, watch out for staff members who will be wearing a touch of pink in their uniforms; pink ties, pink nails, pink lipstick, pink hair ribbons, pink socks, pink belts – they are showing their support and raising awareness for this disease that is still the second most common cause of death from cancer among females.

Staff will also be running a PINK morning tea, a raffle and pink lolly jar guessing competition with all monies raised to go back to NBCF. Canterbury staff members haven’t escaped unscathed from breast cancer after losing a much-beloved long-time staff member to breast cancer a few years back.

“One in eight Australian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer before they are 85 and while treatment has come a long way, a loss of a loved one is still devastating for their families. Buy a pink dessert or donate to the donation boxes around the club with the hope that all cancer deaths will be preventable in the future,” said Dave Brace, CEO of Canterbury League Club.
