Last Tuesday Canterbury League Club, in conjunction with Mahjong Australia, held their first ever mahjong league tournament in the Paragon Room.
More than 90 players attended the event for the chance to win a share of the $1000 prize pool with first and second place taking home $400 and $200 respectively.
Mahjong Australia is the country’s first tournament style league and has been organising games since early 2008 in various clubs around Sydney. It is the only totally free-based league in the world and follows the World Series of Mahjong rules system.
“Asides from the chance of winning the prize pool, participants have the opportunity to interact with other fellow players and enjoy the social benefits of the game. We are proud to host Mahjong Australia and be able to provide our patrons with an occasion to meet other like-minded people,” said Dave Brace CEO.
Join us for a game of mahjong every Tuesday from 2pm to 4.30pm with registrations opening at 1pm.
