Coronavirus Update (20 May 2020)
It has now been 2 months since the industry-wide shutdown of Clubs to help contain the spread of COVID-19. This decision, while necessary, was devastating for Canterbury with the Club forced to stand down almost its entire workforce of more than 450 people. Thankfully the JobKeeper program has eased the burden for a large percentage of our staff and allowed the Club to recall them to perform a range of duties while we remain closed. I will take this opportunity to thank the staff who have been so eager to come back to work, ahead of a reopening.
As you may have seen in the media, as of Friday 15 May, the Federal and State Governments began easing some of the more extreme social distancing measures. This included allowing restaurants and cafés to open to the public with a maximum capacity of 10 persons. While we are buoyed by this development, as you would appreciate, for a Club the size of Canterbury it is simply not viable for us to operate within these restrictions. We will continue to follow all guidance closely and are excited about the prospect of reopening sooner than originally envisaged if the number of active COVID-19 cases continue to fall. We are also investigating some new systems that will make Canterbury safer for you – when we next see you at the club.
On Wednesday 13 May we commenced a takeaway service from Canterbury. You can order pizzas and pastas and simply drive up to the front of the club to collect them. You can pay by card or Engage Rewards points. We are also planning on opening a drive-through coffee shop shortly so that you can stop by and get your Bakehouse fix on the way to work, the school run or generally throughout the day. Let us know if there are any other products that you would like to see available for takeaway and we will pass on the information to our chef team.
We have had enquiries from some Members regarding the status of their membership during the period we are closed, particularly if your membership is due for renewal. Rest assured that no memberships will be cancelled during the period we are closed, and your membership will be maintained over this period. All member entitlements such as vouchers, birthday promotions and points will also be held over and extended to give you plenty of time to access these benefits when we reopen. Your Engage Rewards Member tier will not change as a result of the closure.

Coronavirus Update (24 Mar 2020)
While we are devastated that we have had to take this action, the health and safety of our staff, members and guests remains our number one priority.
We look forward to reopening soon and we will be back bigger than ever.
To stay up to date with what is happening, simply follow us on our social media channels or keep your email address up to date here to receive the latest information. Please encourage your friends and family to update their details with us too, which you can do from our website.
If your membership is due to expire during the period we are closed, rest assured that it will be maintained. Your entitlements such as renewal offers and birthday points will also be placed on hold, and you will be able to use these when we reopen.
If you are holding any vouchers or gift cards that expire during the period we are closed, these will also be honoured in full when we reopen.
The 2020 AGM which was scheduled for tomorrow evening 25 March at 7:00pm in The Paragon Room has been POSTPONED.
We are presently assessing our options to hold this in a different format and will post an update for Members in the Board & Management section of our website on Wednesday 1 April.
