Wish You Were Here

Canterbury League Club has generously donated $1,000 to the Wish You Were Here Foundation.
The Wish You Were Here Foundation was formed as a tribute by close friends of Peter Grima who sadly lost his battle to Pancreatic Cancer in November 2016.
The friends were frustrated with the lack of awareness and research funding, so they joined together to create the Wish You Were Here Foundation.
In 2017, the friends set themselves a challenge that mimicked what cancer patients faced through the Kokoda Trail event.
This year’s trek will venture off to the highest mountain range on Earth; Mount Everest Base Camp at the Himalayas.
The trek aims to highlight the drastic need for increased public awareness and funding for Pancreatic Cancer.
Along with the trek, a Gala Dinner has been organised to raise more vital funds.
‘The team will face many challenges throughout their journey that will help to commemorate the lives that have been taken by Pancreatic Cancer,’ said George Coorey Chairman of Canterbury League Club.
‘When the ClubGrant application was sent through, as a Board we knew it was something we needed to support as Pancreatic Cancer has one of the lowest survival rates.’
