Celebrating Culture, Community, and Connection with CASS Vietnamese Aged Care Expo

Thanks to Canterbury League Club’s generosity, the CASS Vietnamese Aged Care Expo 2024 was held on October 30 in the Paragon Room, with 280 Vietnamese seniors, stakeholders, special guests, and local Councillors in attendance.

The expo united Vietnamese-speaking seniors, offering them a chance to learn about support services, celebrate their culture, and connect with local service providers. It aimed to foster community and cultural cohesion, providing seniors with easier access to information and assistance.

“We recognised the disadvantages of multicultural seniors in accessing information and quality aged care services,” said Vivian An Dinh, Executive Support Officer of CASS Care. “To combat these issues, we have successfully arranged various events, aged care expo and information sessions in language for community and received numerous positive feedback which motivates us to do more and better.”

Special guests, including the Yagoona Vietnamese Senior Group and the Vietnamese Women Association in NSW, presented on topics such as My Aged Care, New Aged Care Reform, and Senior Rights and Home Safety. Keynote speeches and interactive sessions covered staying healthy at home and the importance of physiotherapy. Seniors enjoyed cultural performances like line dances and traditional songs.

The expo aimed to celebrate cultural diversity and foster a sense of community. “This event encouraged seniors to enjoy new experience, continue learning, stay active and connect to community while fostering cultural harmony and sense of belonging,” explained Vivian An Dinh.

“We are proud to say that we made this event a success this year thanks to the help of the Canterbury League Club. Hopefully, we can maintain this project in years to come,” said Vivian An Dinh.
