CATERING TO THE COMMUNITY

Much needed love has been provided to the NSW SES Canterbury unit’s catering trailer.

The catering trailer was originally purchased in 1988, and for over 10 years has served the community, volunteers and other emergency personnel during storm, flood and rescue operations.

To help fund and support the refurbishment, Canterbury league Club has donated $7970.

The catering trailer underwent a full refurbishment, repaint, rebrand and was repaired so that it could continue to cater and provide for the community.

The funding has also helped the Canterbury Unit replace some of the existing items such as appliances, cutlery, plates and cooking utensils.

The catering trailer is a central element in providing tea and coffee for emergency staff, volunteers and community members quickly and efficiently during evacuations and rescue operations.

But it’s not just at times of emergency that the Canterbury trailer is visible.

At least 7 times a year, the Canterbury Unit SES and the trailer are feeding the community at Council events.

‘To be able to give back to the NSW SES Canterbury Unit is essential. Not only do they help the community in times of need, but they are the lead agency for flood, storm, rescue and evacuation operations in our local community,’ said George Coorey, Chairman of Canterbury League Club.

‘When the SES called out for help, it was only fitting that we returned the favour and helped them in their own time of need.’

The catering trailer will also travel to remote areas to provide catering facilities when called on for land searches or missing person searches.
