Canterbury are big supporters of the local community
At the recent Canterbury-Bankstown City Council ClubGrants funding round, Canterbury League Club pledged to support 12 local organisations with donations totalling $196,233.
Some of the notable organisations receiving support include Canterbury Hospital, Canterbury City Community Centre, Learning Links, Life Education NSW, Maronites on Mission, Men of League Foundation, Participate Australia, Tresillian at Canterbury Hospital, and Horizon Theatre at Wiley Park.
These organisations will use the funds over the next 12 months to deliver projects, programs and events which benefit and improve the lives of local community members. $15,000 went towards Canterbury Hospital to purchase a specialised waste management system to reduce surgical waste in operating theatres and what ends up in landfills.
Another $13,918 went to Sir Roden & Lady Cutler Foundation to maintain and operate a vehicle which is used to provide free community patient transport to residents living in the Canterbury Local Government Area.
$25,000 was donated to Tresillian Belmore to upgrade their administration area and repaint it to provide a more positive experience and help new parents and families feel more comfortable whilst using Tresillian’s services.
“We are always proud to support local charities – it is a privilege to give back to the community who continue to support us,” said Peter Winchester, Chairman of Canterbury League Club.
