Bring in the Year of The Pig at this year’s Chinese New Year celebrations at Canterbury League Club.

Celebrations at the Club will take place on Tuesday 5th and Wednesday 6th February.

The Club’s celebration features tradition, food and the use of symbolic colours.

Members will be able to join in all the festive fun and receive abundant blessings from the God of Fortune who will be handing out red envelopes with gold coins with a pig embossed on it.

Traditionally, the red envelopes with coins is meant to bring good luck and a prosperous year.

The God of Fortune will be roaming at the Club on both days and will be there after 6pm.

To celebrate the Year of the Pig, The Dynasty Restaurant has planned a special 10 course dinner.

The dinner will include delectable appetizers, desserts, New Year Eve’s cookies and a fresh fruit platter.

Don’t miss out on the spectacular lion dance which will be one of the highlights of Chinese New Year. The lion dance is an ancient tradition that is thought to bring good luck and drive away evil spirits.

This year’s dance will be one of the largest that the Club has seen and will be visible in areas such as the foyer and The Dynasty Restaurant.

Throughout February, The Dynasty Restaurant will continue to celebrate the New Year with a special New Year banquet that includes San Choi Bow, calamari, Fortune cookies and a glass of wine.

Chinese Lanterns have been put up around the Club as a symbol to ward off evil spirits and bring good luck.

The celebration is now shared by many cultures and the Club invites all patrons to join in on the festive fun.
