Canterbury reopens to the community

Posted on Wednesday, 3 June 2020

It has been 70 days since Canterbury shut its doors to comply with NSW Government’s response to Covid-19…but we are back and proud to be of service to our local community once more!

Last week, Canterbury League Club was excited to welcome Members, guests and staff back to our venues including The Lakemba Club and Moxon Sports Club – and did we feel the love. On the first day, we had patrons lining out the door at all three Clubs; respectfully minding the 1.5 metre social distancing gap between each other.

Visitors to our Clubs would have also noticed several new changes in response to our commitment to keeping everyone safe during their visit to our venues. Some of the more obvious things include having temperatures checked/screened on entry, lots of automatic hand sanitiser stations throughout the Clubs, increased cleaning of surfaces, removal of furniture to allow for increased spacing between chairs and tables, and signage reminding patrons to social distance and wash their hands regularly.

Canterbury’s commitment to a safe workplace also extends to staff and back of house activities that they engage in – all staff have received CovidSAFE training before being allowed to return to work, staff from admin offices are staggered to minimise the number of people in the office each day and many have been set up to work from home, and there are plenty of hand sanitising stations in the staff areas.

Thank you to everyone for their patience and understanding as we navigate through these new times. For those who have already visited Canterbury since we reopened, thank you and we hope to see you again! For those who have yet to visit, we look forward to welcoming you back to one of Sydney’s premier hospitality destinations.
