Canterbury is proud to support the Order of Malta with their ‘Coats for the Homeless’ program by donating $2,000.

Every day, almost 20,000 homeless Australian’s are sleeping rough on the streets of our cities and towns. Half of the homeless seeking accommodation are turned away, leaving them exposed not only to the cold, but other dangers as well. In response to these needs that the ‘Coats for the Homeless’ program started over ten years ago.

A unique hooded coat has been designed by the homeless, for the homeless. It is shower-proof, quilted and warm, portable and mobile, making it easy to wear, carry or stow.

“Coats for the Homeless is a worthy cause and we are pleased to be able to support the Order of Malta with its humanitarian aid work. Our donation will buy 60 specifically designed, warm, shower-proof coats” Said Dr. George Peponis OAM.
