Canterbury Supports Siblings Program

For over eight years Canterbury League Club has been a supporter of Koorana Child and Family Services.

Koorana operates in the Canterbury Bankstown area and provides early childhood education, intervention support and disability services for children 0 – 18 years.

This year, Canterbury League Club has provided a $20,000 grant to Koorana to help fund their siblings program called the SIBs Club.

The SIBs Club runs a weekly recreational program for children who have a brother or sister with a disability.

The sessions allow the children to have a break from their daily stresses in a fun and relaxed environment and to play with other children who live in similar circumstances.

During school holidays, parents are given a break and children also enjoy an excursion where they often have first time experiences such as going to the movies or going on a ferry.

“Koorana is a terrific organisation and we are pleased to be able to continue our support of them in 2018 with the SIBs Club,” said George Coorey, Chairman of Canterbury League Club.

“The SIBs program allows children to break out of their shell and just be kids without the worries and stresses that they face on a day to day basis.”
