Construction of underground car park commences

The start of a new year brings Canterbury one step closer to completing Phase Two of construction and the unveiling of its brand new dining outlet, Bakehouse Café, in the upcoming months.

The Bakehouse Café, with seating available for approximately 200 people, will be serving up a menu full of fresh new options including gourmet sandwiches, yogurt cups, protein balls, light meals and salads. For sweet tooths, the new café will also have a dessert window filled with cakes, muffins, slices, mousses, and tarts.

Members and guests of Canterbury will also notice the newly completed temporary driveway on the right hand side of the Club leading into the aboveground multi-storey car park. This new driveway will replace the previous entrance into the Club as excavation of the new underground car park continues.

Behind the hoarding, all the trees and plants from the former front garden of the Club have been carefully removed while it undergoes construction. Over the next few months, contractors are expected to remove thousands of tonnes of soil and rock to make way for the four-level basement car park.

“It is business as usual at the Club; trade has been going well even amongst construction due to it being carefully planned to minimise disruption to our Members and guests. The feedback about the construction from our customers has been overwhelmingly positive as everyone looks forward to Canterbury’s transformation and your favourite club becoming even better,” said Dave Brace, CEO of Canterbury League Club.
