DR. PEPONIS HONOURED WITH ORDER OF AUSTRALIA MEDAL

Congratulations to Canterbury Chairman, Dr. George Peponis on receiving a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for his service to rugby league football and to the community. Dr. Peponis was named in the prestigious Australia Day Honours list.
The OAM is an order of chilvalry established on 14 February 1975 by Queen Elizabeth II ‘for the purpose of according recognition to Australian citizens and other persons for achievement or for meritorious service”.
“It’s an honour to receive an award like this. I was fortunate enough to captain Australia in rugby league,and this is right up there with it” said Dr. Peponis.
