Normie Rowe and Little Pattie – The Two Of Us
2 Aussie stars, 2 favourites of the Veteran Community come together in a show celebrating their lives in entertainment, and their staunch support those who’ve served our country in the Australian Armed Forces.
Pattie, when she was only a young 15 year old joined the late Col Joye and his Band The Joye Boys in a concert tour of Aussie forces serving in South Vietnam, The year was 1966, the day was the 18th of August, their concert was in full swing when the first shots rang out heralding the beginning of the Battle of Long Tan. the Cast of the concert were herded to safety as for hours, the battle raged.
This experience was indelibly embossed on Pattie’s psyche. Since then out Little Pattie has become the Darling of the ex-Service Community, championing many causes in aid of Veterans.
Normie was Australia’s King of Pop in 1967 when he was notified he was to be called up for National Service. He was on the verge of international stardom when his career was unceremoniously halted.
Normie served with distinction with the 3rd Cavalry Regiment based at Nui Dat. At first as a driver then a Crew-Commander of an Armoured Personnel Carrier. He completed his Service as a Corporal.
It took some time for Normie to resurrect his career, but with continuous reinvention has carved out long and distinguished career.
Normie’s deep concern for his veteran mates has been a hallmark of his life, He has been recognised by an Advance Australia Award, an ARIA Hall of Fame award, and an AM – (Member of the Order of Australia) for his services to the ex-service community, Entertainment and the community at large.
Normie’s recognition for his performance in the role of Jean Valjean in the first Australian production of Les Misérables was trumpeted as a “Triumph”.
This show will bring to the very people Pattie and Normie have, right through their lives and careers sought to serve and support.
Pattie, with her hits on ‘Blonde Headed Stompy Wompy Real Gone Surfer Boy’, ‘Stomping at Maroubra, and her wonderful disarming connection to her audiences.
And Normie with his string on 1960s hit including ‘It Ain’t Necessarily So’, ‘Que Sera, sera’. ‘It’s Not Easy’. ‘Ooh, La, La’, ‘Shakin All Over’ and ‘I (who Have Nothing)’, and his almost 70 years of treading the boards, brings a mastery of communication to his audiences across Australia and at time internationally.
