Future Bulldogs Program Earns Highly Commended Honour
Canterbury League Club is proud to announce that the Future Bulldogs Junior Rugby League program received a Highly Commended award at last night’s annual Clubs & Community Awards, celebrating outstanding community impact in the category of ‘Fostering Grassroots Sport’.
Held at the International Convention Centre, the prestigious industry awards night brought together approximately 970 representatives from clubs across New South Wales to celebrate the collective efforts of clubs creating and championing social impact in their local communities.
The Future Bulldogs program, delivered in partnership with the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs and Canterbury Bankstown District Junior Rugby League, continues to make significant impact across our local community by strengthening grassroots participation and supporting young players and their families though the $100 registration fee subsidy.
In 2025 alone, the program supported over 2,400 Under-5 to Under-13 junior players across 13 local clubs, and player registration numbers for 2026 look to exceed that. By reducing financial barriers, the initiative has made rugby league more accessible, inclusive and sustainable for families across the Canterbury-Bankstown region.
John Khoury, Director of Canterbury League Club said, “We are honoured to receive this Highly Commended award and incredibly proud of the positive social impact the Future Bulldogs program continues to create. Seeing more young people take part in rugby league, build confidence and feel connected to their community is what it’s all about. We also extend our congratulations to all other winners and finalists in this category for their outstanding contributions.”
