Great fundraising success for cancer patient

Canterbury staff swiftly came together in support of one of their own – Rangi Troy, in her battle against cancer.

Rangi, a long-time staff member of Canterbury and a massive Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs supporter, has been living with cancer for the past 19 years. Treatment options had finally narrowed down to one but it was going to be a costly procedure.

When Canterbury staff heard about her situation, they quickly formed a fundraising initiative to help Rangi raise funds for her treatment.

Over the past few weeks, staff collected donations, held raffles, and cooked up BBQ and sausage sizzle days.

Staff were given fundraising goals and as each goal was accomplished, different members of the management team would don floor staff uniforms and volunteer their time serving customers on the gaming floor and Galaxy Play area.

The Bulldogs also provided support to one of their biggest fans by allowing Canterbury staff to pass around donation buckets during the recent Back to Belmore game.

Their combined efforts have successfully raised the necessary funds for her treatment which started this week.

“Times like these show how amazing it can be when everyone works together to help a friend and work colleague in need. Staff alone contributed over $15,000 to Rangi’s treatment. I am extremely proud and humbled to be the CEO of such a great organisation and team,” said Dave Brace, CEO of Canterbury League Club.
