Meet Nick
Say hello to Nick, one of Canterbury’s chefs working hard in the background to feed our Members and guests. He’s been with the Club for five years and alternates between working at Canterbury and The Lakemba Club.
What is your favourite thing about working in Canterbury?
I like how I get moved around a lot so I get to do different things and it’s always an interesting challenge.
What made you decide to be a chef?
I was brought up in restaurants as my family owned five different restaurants. At the age of five, I was already learning how to cook!
What’s your favourite dish to cook?
I like making steak dishes because I love eating meat and my famous ginger garlic prawns are always a top seller at The Lakemba Club.
What is your favourite thing about being a chef?
Coming up with new ideas and getting compliments on them.
What cuisine is your favourite to eat and cook?
I like Mexican food.
Are there any chefs you admire?
I like Gordon Ramsay because he’s got his act together and he’s a perfectionist like me.
Since you are a chef, are you automatically the one who cooks at home?
Yes, I cook at home because when I eat, I like to enjoy eating it!
How do you spend your time outside of work?
I like to surf, bike, ride and golf.
Where is your next holiday destination?
My next holiday will be the Philippines and Spain.
