Movember: Feel the power of the Mo

Posted on Friday, 30 October 2015

The month of November is going to get a lot itchier for the 16 Canterbury staff members who signed up to do  Movember – but it is all for a fantastic cause in support of raising awareness for men’s health.

16 Canterbury Mo Bros and Mo Sistas, or otherwise known as the ‘Canterbury Moustache League’, have a goal to raise $5,000 over the course of the month with Canterbury pledging to match every dollar fundraised by participating staff up to $10,000. All funds raised will go back to the Movember Foundation.

Last year the team raised almost $13,000 and took out top prize in the Hospitality Industry Challenge which pitched the Club against other hospitality businesses who also participated in Movember.

“We had a fantastic response from staff last year and staff have been just as enthusiastic this year – Movember is such a great initiative to unite the community together to raise awareness for men’s health. We will be trying our best to reach our fundraising goals again and hopefully take out the title for the second consecutive year,” said Dave Brace, CEO of Canterbury League Club.

Since 2003 the Movember movement has raised over $685 million globally which has gone towards funding over 1000 programs in 21 countries that tackle men’s prostate and testicular cancer, and mental health problems.
