Movember finishes on a high

The Handlebar, the Chopper, the Box Car and The Connoisseur – these are just some types of moustaches that have been gracing the faces of the Canterbury Moustache League in support of Movember.

A small but dedicated group of 21 Canterbury staff have raised $1988.45 between them and Canterbury will be dollar matching their donation, bringing their total up to $3976.90. All funds raised will go to the Movember Foundation which raises awareness and funds breakthrough solutions for men’s health issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, poor mental health and physical inactivity.

On average, across the world, men die 6 years earlier than women, and suicide rates for men outnumber women three to one. Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men worldwide after lung cancer. The Movember Foundation seeks to address these issues by funding research and programs that will have a positive change on men’s health globally.

Canterbury staff members growing a mo engaged in some healthy competition to see who could produce the best moustache in the month. Winners will be announced and prizes awarded to the top three participants at a special Canterbury Movember staff afternoon tea.
