Running for a great cause

Team Canterbury has joined over 80,000 other participants to cross the finish line at the recent 2014 City 2 Surf after taking on the gruelling 14 kilometre course on Sunday 10 August.

There were 37 participants in this year’s City 2 Surf Team Canterbury – 20 staff members, 10 C-Life members, 6 Bulldogs staff and 1 Canterbury member.

There were plenty of sore legs, tired muscles and stiff joints afterwards but Team Canterbury had a fun day out and successfully raised over $2000 for National Breast Cancer Foundation.

“It’s great to see C-Life members and staff members take their fitness to the next level and set themselves the challenge of doing the City 2 Surf. It was a great event for everyone though I’m sure many of us felt sore the next day – but it’s all for a good cause!” said Arthur Siambis, General Manager of C-Life.

The race kicked off at Hyde Park, wound around Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs before finally finishing at beautiful Bondi Beach. Since the inaugural race in 1971, the City 2 Surf has become one of the world’s largest running races.

Over $4.3 million was raised this year to support more than 800 charities including beyondblue, Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation, St Vincent de Paul, and Camp Quality.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the 2014 City 2 Surf Team Canterbury. Hope to see you again next year!
