Second stage of construction has begun

The exciting second phase of construction at Canterbury League Club has started with works focussed on delivering the new multi-storey underground car park, basement level production kitchen and constructing the shell of the new café.

Hoarding has gone up at the front car park coming off Bridge Road for construction of a new double lane driveway at the side of the Club leading into the multi-storey car park. Contractors will also take the opportunity to drive pilings into the ground to strengthen earth works before excavation of the multi-storey underground car park can begin. Digging is expected to start early in the new year and hundreds of tonnes of soil and rock will be removed from the site.

Once contractors get underneath the Club, they will start converting a section of the basement level car park into a new loading dock, production kitchen and storage area that will better service the increased volume of patrons once renovations of the Club are completed.

Inside Canterbury, Members and guests will also notice hoarding has been erected in the walkway leading to Flame Pizza + Grill – construction is in progress to transform the previous snooker area in the Bulldogs Sports Bar into the new café lounge area.

On the opposite side, Parkview Group have been engaged to build the outer shell of the new café and extend the area above for the new cocktail lounge. Works have been planned to minimise disruption to our Members and guests as much as possible.

“This is an exciting time for Canterbury; every month there is something new being built or improved. It is fantastic to see progress happening around the Club and I thank all our Members and guests for their patience and understanding as we transform Canterbury into an iconic destination,” said Dave Brace, CEO of Canterbury League Club.
