Canterbury League Club has always been part of the magic of ‘Big Change for Little Champions’ telethon to raise money for Starlight Children’s Foundation and this year was no different.

Canterbury Director Steve Mortimer OAM was on-hand during the live taping of The Footy Show to present a cheque to Starlight for $25,000 and to mingle with all the fantastic Captain Starlights and volunteers who made the night possible.

This year, Starlight’s fundraising target was $500,000 to support 12,500 sick kids and by the night’s end, they successfully raced past it by raising a whopping $570,000 instead.

Now in its fifth year, Starlight’s ‘Big Change for Little Champions’ has raised over $1.9 million to help brighten the lives of chronically-ill children with their in-hospital program, out-of-hospital Starlight Wish-granting program and Captain Starlight.

“There was such a great atmosphere on the night – I met some really nice people and it was fantastic to see so many come together to focus on raising money for Starlight. I was really impressed with how everything ran and I’m proud to be there on behalf of Canterbury,” said Steve Mortimer OAM, Director of Canterbury League Club.
