Last year registered clubs in the Canterbury-Bankstown Local Government Area funded approximately $2.4 million through the ClubGRANTS program, covering over 120 projects that positively impacted our local communities.

Of that amount, Canterbury League Club’s contribution of $528,000 supported major projects like:

  • $43,800 to Learning Links to assist children with learning difficulties and disabilities
  • $30,000 to The Business Concierge, which visits schools to help educate teenagers on financial literacy and other necessary life skills
  • $25,000 to Heart of the Nation to distribute more life-saving defibrillators into the community.

Canterbury also contributed $15,000 to transform Canterbury Hospital’s paediatric Emergency Department into a vibrant, welcoming space with a rainbow theme to create a more comforting environment for young patients.

“Canterbury League Club truly believes in giving back to the community and making a real difference,” said Peter Winchester, Chairman of Canterbury League Club.

This year’s Canterbury-Bankstown Local ClubGRANTS round is currently open and accepting applications until 31 May 2025.

Eligible projects for Category 1 funding in 2025 include initiatives in community welfare, social services, community development, health, employment support and other projects that aim to improve the living standards of low income and disadvantaged people.

Local community-based organisations are encouraged to apply online via the Canterbury-Bankstown Council website here

“Canterbury is committed to helping local organisations create a stronger, more connected community and we encourage all eligible organisations to apply,” said Peter.
