Supporting St Basil’s Nursing Home

Canterbury League Club and St Basil’s Nursing Home in Lakemba have a well-established partnership that has been running since 2011.

St Basil’s provides specialised aged care and retirement for 191 residents.

In total, Canterbury has provided more than $200,000 through the ClubGrants program.

This year, Canterbury League Club donated $20,000 to help fund and support the C.E.S.S.A.R.I.A which is an innovative program in partnership with Macquarie University that aims to improve cognitive abilities in dementia patients.

“St Basil’s is one of our key community partners and being able to support and help a generation that has contributed so much to our society means a lot to all those in Canterbury,” said George Coorey, Chairman of Canterbury League Club.

“The care that they provide helps improve the quality of life for residents by enhancing their cultural, leisure and spiritual wellbeing.”

St Basil’s cares for all elderly including those in need and those that are experiencing both financial and social disadvantage.

The nursing home provides a more home like atmosphere for all those that they care for.
