A team of 33 participants, made up of Canterbury and C-Life staff and members, did themselves proud by completing the 14 kilometre City 2 Surf fun run last Sunday.

Team Canterbury pledged a fundraising goal of $2,015 before the race and eventually exceeded this target with a team total of $2,764.50 in support of National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) – a special mention to C-Life member, Sandra Apostolou, who raised a fantastic $1,707.50 by herself.

Canterbury League Club also supported Team Canterbury by providing a $2,000 donation to NBCF as well as another $5,000 to Alzheimer’s Australia NSW.

The team bus left Canterbury at 7.45am on the day and after the race, team members made their way to Bronte via the coastal walk to rest and replenish energy stores with a catered lunch. The bus picked up the exhausted but happy team members from Bronte Park and returned to the Club.

“I’d like to thank each and every one of the participants for making the 2015 City 2 Surf event the best we have had so far. Everyone came with big smiles and their rocket shoes on to be part of the world’s biggest fun run,” said Arthur Siambis, General Manager of C-Life Health Club.

“We have all heard the alarming statistics in relation to the effect that Breast Cancer has on our society, and it is unfortunately hard to find someone who hasn’t been touched by cancer in some way. I pray that the NBCF reach their goal of ZERO deaths from breast cancer by 2030.”
