Thank you for supporting Pink Week!
Social distancing as the new normal has not stopped Canterbury’s popular Pink Week from raising $860 for National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) in support of breast cancer research and prevention.
From Monday 19 October to Sunday 25 October, $1 was donated to NBCF for every pink dessert sold at Bakehouse Café and The Bistro. Whilst this year’s fundraiser was a more subdued event due to Covid-19 restrictions, it did not stop hungry diners from satisfying their sweet tooth with 322 pink desserts sold that week!
Showing a generous sense of community support, Bakehouse staff also kindly donated their daily tips jar to the fundraiser, and collection boxes all around Canterbury, The Lakemba Club and Moxon Sports Club helped round up the final tally.
To finish our Pink Week fundraiser on a sweet note, Canterbury dollar-matched the final amount.
“Considering the current climate, $860 is a fantastic achievement as every bit helps NBCF achieve their mission of zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030. Thank you to everyone who donated, ate a pink dessert and contributed to our fundraiser,” said Greg Pickering, CEO of Canterbury League Club.
