THE BISTRO CONSTRUCTION CONTINUES TO PROGRESS

Posted on Tuesday, 10 October 2017

Behind the black hoarding, away from public eyes, work is happening at an energetic pace to transform the former Banyan Brasserie into Canterbury’s latest dining offering, The Bistro.

At last check, the Western side escalators have been demolished and replaced with new ones. Builders have shifted the angle which connects the two floors so now Members and guests will be able to enjoy the convenience of escalators that run all the way to the ground floor.
Visible from the driveway, work has commenced on the front West side extension – this will bring the whole building forward by approximately six metres. This extension will help form The Bistro’s new outdoor al fresco area which will double the seating capacity of the former Banyan – this section will be ready sometime mid-next year.
Whilst the new restaurant is being built, Canterbury’s Chef Team have already been hard at work creating The Bistro’s new menu and taste-testing it –the menu will have some classic favourites done with a twist and lots of exciting new gastro-pub style dishes from around the globe. Final menus will be released closer to The Bistro being completed so make sure to keep an eye out for them on Canterbury’s website. While the new restaurant is under construction, Banyan Lite is serving as a pop-up restaurant on Friday nights through to Sunday serving a limited menu of club favourites.
