For the third year in a row, Starlight Children’s Foundation was the recipient of a $20,000 donation from Canterbury League Club during the NRL Footy Show’s ‘Big Change for Little Champions’ Telethon.

Canterbury Director Steve Mortimer OAM was on hand to present the cheque to Starlight as well as rub shoulders with all the fantastic Captain Starlights and volunteers who made the night possible.

Just past the halfway point, over $393,000 has already been raised and all funds will go towards supporting Starlight’s in-hospital Starlight Express Room program which will be delivered to 16,000 sick kids across Australia.

Formed in 1988, Starlight has been helping brighten the lives of chronically-ill children with their in-hospital program, out-of-hospital Starlight Wishgranting program and Captain Starlight.

“It is always fantastic to see the country band together and support seriously-ill children and their families. I can only imagine how challenging it is to be on a constant merry-go-round of hospital and doctor visits, medicines and painful operations so it is great that Starlight is there to help take their minds off it and give them back a small piece of their childhood,” said Steve Mortimer.

Starlight’s goal this year is to raise $650,000; if you’d like to help and be a champion for sick kids, you can still donate at bigchangeforlittlechampions.com.au
