TWILIGHT AUSTRALIA DAY EVENT A BIG HIT
Over 4,000 residents attended the Twilight Australia Day event at Belmore Sports Ground.
The event was the first Twilight Australia Day event in the area and was organised by Canterbury- Bankstown City Council and the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs.
To help support the event, Canterbury League Club donated $10,000.
The event was the first Twilight Australia Day event in the area providing locals with a good way to celebrate all things Australian.
The locals enjoyed the laid-back family vibes and there was something for everyone which included great food, children’s activities, carnival rides and entertainment.
The event was hosted by Scott McRae, who is a familiar face on many Australian TV shows and the day included live performances from Australian Blues Brothers, Spencer Jones and Splash Dance.
The Bulldogs kept the kids entertained with football activities and cheerleading lessons from their cheer squad.
The day wouldn’t have been complete without a magnificent firework display and attendees had the chance to watch the Sydney Harbor Bridge fireworks display on the big screen and then were treated to Council’s very own display.
Canterbury – Bankstown City Council Mayor Khal Asfour was present and addressed the crowd about the strong community spirit.
‘We are proud to have supported and been a part of the first twilight Australia Day event in our local community. By supporting events like these we can help bring the whole community together,’ said George Coorey Chairman of Canterbury League Club.
