Canterbury was saddened by the news of the passing of Ken Charlton, who passed away in November, aged 89. Ken played First Grade for the Bulldogs from 1946 until he retired in 1954. He captained the side in his final 3 years and played mainly in the forwards. Ken also served as Football Club Secretary from 1954-58 and Canterbury League Club Foundation Secretary from 1956 to 1965. He was also a Director of the Club from 1956 to 1969. From 1962 to 1973, Ken was Vice President of the N.S.W Rugby League Football Club. A Life Member of the League Club and the Football Club, Ken was regarded by many as being the man most responsible for the formation of the League Club.
Ken was farewelled at South Chapel Crematorium, Rookwood by a large gathering of family and friends. Our sincere condolences are extended to the Charlton family.
